Dr. Ariel Ortiz is a board-certified General Surgeon with a specialty in bariatric and metabolic surgery, and CEO and Founder of Hospital CYNTAR in Tijuana, Mexico. With nearly three decades of operative experience since 1997, he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS), holds the SRC "Surgeon of Excellence in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery" designation, and is among the very few surgeons to hold the Master Surgeon of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery certificate from the Surgical Review Corporation.

A former Professor of the Laparoscopic Hernia Repair Course at the North-Western Laparoscopic Training Center (Mexican Social Security Institute, 2000–2007) and Professor of Surgery at the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, he oversees the medical accuracy, clinical relevance, and patient-safety framing of educational content on this site, with a particular focus on abdominal wall, hiatal, and complex revisional hernia repair.
